Alphabet Train

Find the missing letter in the alphabet train. A free letter game for children aged 3 to 7.

Play Alphabet Train

Alphabet Train in Educating Edgar: a little train of coloured carriages with the letters a, b, an empty carriage and d, and three letter buttons below.

What your child does

A little train pulls in with letters on its carriages in alphabet order, with one carriage empty, for example a b _ d. The voice reads the letters and asks, "Which letter is missing?" Your child taps one of three letters. The right letter jumps into the carriage, the voice reads the whole run, and the train toots off.

What it practises

How to play

  1. Open Educating Edgar and tap Alphabet Train.
  2. Listen to the letters, then tap the one that fills the gap.
  3. A different letter just wiggles, with a chance to try again. There's no penalty.
  4. After 5 trains, a star and praise finish the round.

It starts gently, near the beginning of the alphabet with the gap in the middle. Each round goes a little further into the alphabet, then trains get a fifth carriage and the gap can be at either end.
